Meet Nate Frederiksen
Hi There! I'm Nate!
I'm a composer, producer, and performer
from Boulder, Colorado.
I love composing for games, for film, or just
for fun. I take a lot of influence from folk music around the globe, and I'm especially inspired by instruments or styles that are underrepresented in contemporary classical music.
Being able to involve myself with the recording, mixing, and mastering of my music, production becomes another step of composing for me. This also applies to the technical implementation of game audio, where I have even more freedom to craft a sonic world.
I also love branching outward and studying instruments that don't see a lot of stage time in contemporary music. While my mother tongue is piano, my secondary instruments include Hammered Dulcimer, Cretan Lyra, and more.

A wind band piece dedicated to the victims of the Marshall Fire.
Premiered with the Berklee Symphonic Winds ensemble in May 2025
"Cretan Folk Dances" for Piano
A collection of Cretan Folk Dances and one Cretan poetry form adapted and reimagined for solo piano.
"The DO Duets" VII. Serras
A movement from a collection of folk form-inspired duets for Hammered Dulcimer and Oboe. This movement, in particular, is inspired by the Danish "Serras" folk form as depicted in the notebook of Rasmus Storm.
